Were you worried?

I do hope your world did not stop turning while I took a very unplanned bloggy break. Let me assure you that all is well here at the Knightly manor.  We have been kind of busy and Momma Knight has been doing it alone.

The husband is in Guatemala (yes, AGAIN). I was at the gym yesterday and a friend and I were discussing the fact that he is in that country often.  I blurted out, “Heck!  We will probably live there one day.”  We laughed then all of a sudden we both had looks of panic on our faces.  She, being a Godly woman (who I adore) looked at me and said seriously, “that will probably actually happen, won’t it?”  Great.  Not that living abroad has not been an option since the begining of our holy union BUT I must admit I have been rather delighted that it has not “played out.”  I am a comfortable surburbia momma.  Thank you.  I will end this portion of my post now in fear of having to surrender to God one day.  We don’t want any of that! :)

Oh, I kid! Please know that if and when the Lord leads us, I will surely be slow to catch on but I will follow.  The husband must show me the detailed email from the good Lord.  But I will follow.

(I am crossing my fingers as I type -I know, that is highly impossible.)

I realized the other day that I have not written a lot, esp. on more serious issues.  It seems like thinking takes time.  Well, I actually think a lot while I live in my car but am unable to come home and put those absurd thoughts onto paper bloggyland.  I apologize for the big disappointment.  I am truly sorry.

Anywho.  Instead of boring you with my scary thoughts, I will bless you with mundane facts.

*As I mentioned earlier, the husband is in Guatemala exploring options for starting an orphanage with our church. He will return Monday.  Another friend at the gym asked me if he was flying American Airlines.

Uhhhum.

Yes.

I quickly replied that he was already at his destination so have no fears.  She smiled at me and I KNEW what she was thinking.

What about coming home?

I will not dwell on that.

Yet.

*It is 8:16 on Saturday morning and Pumpkin has it in her sweet little head that today is a perfect day to go to the American Girl Doll store and bistro.  She is adamant that we go.  I told her that we do not have the money for this treat.  She would not accept it. She pulled a chair into my closet and dragged the money box down and has been plopped on my bed counting money for the past 16 minutes.

Little does she know that she is exercising her math skills so practically this fine morning.

She is not going today.

Despite the fact she is up to $12.00 in change.

*I finished my week of parent conferences.  All I have to say is my group of first grade parents ROCK!  I had to share some tough news with a few but having their support and trust makes my job so much more enjoyable.  It also helps that I love my 18 monkeys.  I have become attached to those sillies and am dreading handing them over to second grade (well, most of the time).

*And while I enjoy my job, let me just insert here that we have 24 days remaining in our school year.

TWENTY-FOUR!

*I was informed at 5:03 this morning that God and Jesus are very powerful and that a certain five year old girly loves them more than she loves me.  No offense taken, Little Miss. :)

*The Lad accompanied his dad and Papa to the Mavericks game this week.  We allowed him to stay out WAY beyond his bedtime.  He said it was worth it but momma is still fighting his notenoughsleep blues.

*Our DVD player is on the ill side so this is where all the children were last night for our movie night (we do lots of special things when Daddy is gone).

*It is 8:33 am and Little Miss is still snoozing.  Glorious day!

*We had terrible storms around here Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.  At 4:00am the thunder and lightening woke several members of our Knight clan so we had a full bed.  Around 6:00am, the husband rolled over and said it was time to get up.  I noticed he was just getting up (he is out of bed by 5:30 usually).  The power was out.  UUGH ! It was pitch black outside and I had 44 minutes to be out the door.  And wouldn’t you know that the one night I failed to set out all the clothes, make sure planners were signed, etc, we would not have lights in the morning.  Wouldn’t you know!  Our three flashlights are wimpy so we were in the closets with our cell phones providing the best light around.

Pitiful.

I was rather pleased with myself for not getting stressed.  In fact, I made the decision that I would be late to school and it was not a big deal.  I took a shower in the dark, found some clothes I hoped would match, loaded up the car, then woke the kids.  We helped them dress and threw them in the car and headed to buy them breakfast.  It is amazing how fast they moved for a breakfast on the run.  It was indeed a special treat.  So the kids ended up getting 45 minutes extra sleep and I actually made it to my class before the tardy bell rang.  It turned out to be a good day.  VERY busy, but good.

*We do not have a single plan for today.  Well, I don’t.  Pumpkin wants to go you know where.  The Lad wants to go to Wal-mart to buy game cards with the money he made selling his old cards to a 7 year old.  And I am pretty certain a little 5 year old would like to visit Nana and her puppy, Taffy.  So who knows what the day will hold.

But for now, I am off to hold that cup of coffee so I can embrace what comes my way!

*Important update!  Here is Pumpkin STILL counting out change.  Have I mentioned that she is a determined child?

*

It is now 8:56am and she has counted $34 in change.

sigh

Maybe I AM driving into Dallas with a girly after all.
