Tiny Talk Tuesday (#3)

My story for today happened a year or so ago but it is too cute not to share.

One Sunday my folks, my three kids, and I were planning on heading out to the time share a few hours after church.  My mom offered to keep Little Miss during the second worship service so I could go home and pack.  After the second service, my father (he was head of the finance committee at the time) started gathering the envelopes (money) from the offering receptacles located at each door in our sanctuary – which is a school cafeteria.  Little Miss was following him around observing his actions.  When Papa’s duty was complete, they left and met us at the condo.

Later that night while I was tucking the three kids into bed, they started to comment that they wish Daddy had joined us.  I explained to them that he had to stay home to go to work.  I siezed the moment and went on to say how Daddy works so hard for us to meet our needs AND provide many extras.  “But why does he have to work?” asked the Lad.   “To make money,” replied Pumpkin.  Little Miss was being very still and was evidently pondering the comments.

After a few seconds of silence, the then three year old, looked up at me and said, “Momma, you know that Papa gets his money from the buckets at church.”

BTW.  The pastors say this truth story has nothing to do with the fact that Papa no longer collects the money at church.  🙂

Cute story! When he was 3, our younger son was getting money from Grandma before we left their home. She handed him a few dollars and went to put her wallet back in her purse. I was in the next room and heard in a loud voice, “Is that all you got?”

Charming story – at our church we’ve had some little ones want to take OUT of the plate as it is passed by them – figuring it is a help yourself money situation! Out of the mouths of babes huh? Thanks for coming by my blog – you and I run in some of the same bloggy crowds looks like. See you around!
