Where you go, I go

I sit here on the fence.  I have told my husband all along that I don’t care where we live as long as we are together.  My home is where my heart is and my heart is most definitely with him.

This commitment is currently being tested.

We spent our first 5 years of marriage far away from our homeland (the great state of Texas) but returned with happy hearts.  But this time is different.  We have lived close to the majority of our family members for more than seven years now and absolutely enjoy it.  The thought of intentionally leaving them behind is disheartening.  We both feel torn.

But following God’s call is always the right thing so if out of state is where the Lord wants my husband, then there I go too – with joy and anticipation that God has great things in store for my little family.  All the details of staying connected with family, schooling, expensive housing, etc, etc. will fall into place if we move in the direction the Lord has set before us.

Good thing HE is taking care of this because it is all pretty overwhelming.

The next step?

The organization that is interested in my husband is flying him up for an extensive interview next week.  And I get to tag along!  Did I mention that this job is on a mountain?  ON A MOUNTAIN.  I spent my entire college life dreaming of one day living on a mountain top with several little tykes wearing flannel and playing with a dog named Buck.  So maybe my dream is coming true 17 years later than I originally desired.

According to the weatherman, it has been about 20 degrees and snowing in this small Appalachian town all week.  What fun it will be for the two of us to have a Christmas get away.  So if nothing comes of this in the job area, we will come back feeling refreshed and bonded.

And maybe we might find my imaginary mountain dog named Buck.
