No Words

There are no words to adequately explain to my son why our friends’ nine-day-old baby died today.  There are no words that can be written on a blog or facebook wall to even attempt to console a grieving family.  There are no words to share with you to express my very miniscule pain compared to the family’s tonight.

As I sat at my computer chair a bit earlier this evening and pulled up the blog of this dear family, I was thinking what I just wrote above.  But when the screen popped up with a picture of their sweet family, my eyes then dropped down to the print below.

Scripture.

“‘I asked the Lord to give me this child, and he has given me my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.’ And they worshiped the Lord there.”
– I Samuel 1:27-28

“In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”
– Psalm 16:11

“Your sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be over.”
– Isaiah 60:20.

So, maybe there are some words.  But I am certain that no words can completely heal the woman with empty arms tonight.

Please pray for this sweet family.  We know them and they are dear to us in several ways.

Wow, I’m so sorry. I’ll be lifting up this family in prayer.

Oh… I’m so sorry for your friend’s loss. You’re right – no words. I’ll be praying.
