let us talk about me….

Well, not really.  I kinda dumped my heavy heart in my last post and did not give hardly a detail.  I appreciate the concern you all have for me.  See!?!?!!?!  Sometimes loving others hurt.  The Lord is good indeed even amongst the hurting.  I have followed up on a few of my friends who are in pain and they are seeing God’s mercies.  You know, those mercies are new every morning!  Look up Lamentations 3:22-23.

So, let us talk about me now!

Thankfully things are fairly stable for our fam at this point.  Well, it depends how you define stable.  We have very hectic schedules but even in the midst of our self-initiated chaos, we have JOY!

What is going on?

-The kids and I just finished the 7th week of the school year.  OH MY WORD!

-The GREATEST news according to me is that I FEEL 100% better!  That darn eternal cough finally decided to disappear.  I was pretty sick when the whole thing started 7 weeks ago (yep, the first week of school) and did not feel that bad for 5 weeks.  So I thought!  I did not realize how good it feels to feel good!  Once I kicked the bad boy (we discovered it was indeed pneumonia), I was a new person.  🙂

-Pumpkin had her fourth volleyball game tonight.  I am so proud of Orange Crush!  They have certainly made MAJOR improvements.

-Little Miss made the UIL team for Creative Writing.  I heard she did GREAT on the Storytelling tryouts too but being on both teams might not be too fair to the other 2nd graders.

-Pumpkin made the UIL team for Oral Reading.

-The Lad is working on being part of the Spelling UIL team.

-This momma was NEVER on anything to do with academics for the UIL team.  I think the daddy genes are kicking in.

-Our house has been on the market for over 3 weeks and we have had 3 lookers.  Not a huge market right now.  Our neighborhood is not sought out by tons of folks so this might take a while.  We are anxious to buy a house that is bigger (we live in 1,500 square feet) in the town where I teach.  If our house does not sell by April, we will wash our hands of the deal and just wait for more direction.  Trying to sell a house and possibly closing on it while we live in Africa for the summer sounds like an absurd idea.

-Our family went camping with some dear friends last weekend.  Camping was an activity we once did with this family a couple times each year but we somehow have abandoned our tradition.  Of course our children get along beautifully!  Wish I had pics to share but we all forgot our cameras.  UUUUGH!  I could not believe it.  My daughter reminded me that it was better than forgetting your underwear (which I have been known to do more often than not lately).

-I got my hair chopped off yesterday.  It is WAY short.

-My 20 year high school reunion is this weekend.  We opted just to attend the dinner tomorrow night.  I am half looking forward to it and half dreading it. I am sure all of my classmates will be shocked at how much weight I have gained over the years.  Being 88 pounds and almost 5 feet 8 inches at graduation didn’t help my chances of looking “better” 20 years later.  Let us just say I am NOT 88 pounds.

-The Lad is enjoying football.  He is also doing an amazing job.  It is hard work and he is persevering.

-I welcomed a new little gal into my PPCD class (preschool program for children with disabilities) two weeks ago.  She came to us on her third birthday.  A baby!  She is a doll but requires one on one at all times so the dynamics of our class have changed.  We are slowly adjusting.

-We found out today that we will indeed be spending another summer in Africa.  It seems as if my cooking American food was a big hit last summer.  So, I will spend another summer happily overseeing the feeding of the masses.

-I have been on a reading frenzy lately.  3 books in less than two weeks!  Yes, I still have a full time job and a few kiddos of my own to tend to but I obviously ignored those responsibilities.  I have my priorities.

I wish I didn’t always resort to the list format.  That is what you end up with when I am not consistent in blogging.  UUUGH.

Have a super weekend!

I am so happy you’re feeling better. So sorry to hear this start of the school year has been hard, but it sounds like you’re being intentional about finding the JOY in it! I don’t know what those academic teams are like, either, but it sounds impressive! Yay for everything else you shared and hope the house sells soon! Love ya.
